August 2026 – Month of the Red Fire Monkey – 丙申⽉

The Fire Monkey Returns – Sirius Rising on the 250th Birthday of the Republic – The Sacred Geometry of Washington D.C.

– August 7 to September 8 –

August of the Chinese calendar is always ruled by the Monkey. This cerebral  yang metal sign represents the qualities of agility, intelligence, and chaotic individualism. Yang red fire is sitting on top of the monkey’s yang metal this month, creating real raw passion during the heat of summer! This combination  is known to bring explosions, excitement, brilliance, enthusiasm, and the  possibility of overdoing it just to get attention. Crimes and mischief that have been under wraps will explode out into the open. Social media justice,  shaming, and censorship will become even more out of control. This tightening oppression that’s been placed upon the people may begin to melt and expose the lies and deceit that have been fed to them. It is going to be a “hot” month!

Since I am a monkey and this is the cerebral month for overthinking, I have  been reflecting on this being the 250th birthday of the United States. The Declaration of Independence was signed in a Yang Fire Monkey year — 1776, a year of explosive brilliance, chaotic individualism, and the overthrow of an old order. Now, in 2026 — the Year of the Fire Horse (丙午年), another rare and roaring yang-fire year — we enter the Monkey month (丙申⽉) beginning around August 7th. The Horse charges; the Monkey calculates. The nation that was born in Fire Monkey energy now faces its own month of reckoning exactly 250 years later.

But there is more. This August, the heavens and the geometry of the capital itself are aligning in ways the Founders — many of them Freemasons and stargazers — would have recognized immediately, and sadly few in our current government are even remotely aware of.

The Sacred Geometry of the Federal City
Pierre Charles L’Enfant did not merely lay out streets; he encoded a cosmology.  Jenkins Hill — now Capitol Hill — was chosen as the center of beginning, the point from which all else radiated. From this summit, L’Enfant drew the ancient Roman Cardo (North-South) and Decumanus (East-West), creating the crossroads of the world at the feet of the Capitol.

Around this center, he inscribed circles reflecting the Golden Ratio — 0.618, 1.0, and 1.618 miles — generating the Vesica Piscis, the mandorla of reconciliation where opposites merge. The circles were divided into pentacles (the number 5,  symbolizing earth and the citizenry) emanating from the Capitol, while from the White House, avenues radiated at 60° angles forming equilateral triangles based on the number 6, the number of heaven and cosmic order. The grid itself emerged from these stellar angles — what you call the half-cardinal street layout — so that the city is not merely on the earth but mapped to celestial proportion. The diagonal avenues are not random. They are the edges of cascading stars. And the most famous diagonal of all — Pennsylvania Avenue — is the hypotenuse reconciling these two realms.

The Northeast Corner and the Cornerstone
In Masonic tradition, the cornerstone is always placed in the northeast corner of a building — the symbolic threshold where darkness (North) meets light (East). It represents the initiate standing at the dawn of knowledge, the living stone turning from shadow toward illumination. When George Washington, in full Masonic regalia, laid the Capitol cornerstone on September 18, 1793, the ritual was performed with corn, wine, and oil — the elements of consecration. The silver plate beneath that stone declared the building erected “in the year of Masonry 5793.” Though the exact location of that cornerstone was later lost to fire and expansion, its intention remains: this city was founded as a temple of law and light, oriented to the stars.

The Crypt: Where the Center Holds
Beneath the Rotunda lies the Capitol Crypt — forty Doric columns supporting the dome above, a chamber originally intended as the entry to George Washington’s tomb. At its center is the Compass Stone, a worn white marble star set into the floor. Stand upon it, and you stand in all four quadrants of the District simultaneously — northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest — the literal axis mundi of the federal city.

Only feet away rests a replica of the Magna Carta in a gold and glass case. Here, at the foundation of the Republic, sits the 800-year-old declaration that no man — not even a king — is above the law. The symbolism is architectural as much as political: the rule of law forms the bedrock upon which the rotunda of government rests. In a Fire Monkey month known for exposing hidden crimes and melting oppression, the presence of the Magna Carta in the crypt feels less like history and more like a ticking clock.

Sirius Rising Above the Capitol Dome
Look southeast down Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, and you are looking along an azimuth that targets the rising point of Sirius — the Dog Star, the star of Isis — as it crests the Capitol dome. The avenue’s angle, roughly 19.5° south of due east, has pointed to Sirius since the city was surveyed over two centuries ago.

In 2026, Sirius makes its heliacal rising — its first appearance in the pre-dawn sky after being lost in the sun’s glare — around August 10–12 at Washington’s latitude.  This is the ancient Egyptian New Year, the signal of the Nile’s flood. Sirius rises  over the Statue of Freedom which crowns the Capitol wearing a star-spangled  headdress, a stellar symbolism consistent with this very alignment.

Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, the celestial embodiment of brilliance, revelation, and the goddess who weeps for the dead and resurrects the light. In esoteric astrology it is called the sun of our sun. In a month that overlaps with Chinese Ghost Month (August 13 – September 10, 2026), when the veil between worlds is said to thin, the return of the Dog Star over the Capitol is a powerful omen of illumination emerging from darkness.

Aldebaran Setting Over the White House
From the viewpoint of the Capitol, looking west along that same Pennsylvania Avenue alignment, the royal star Aldebaran — the Bull’s Eye, one of the four ancient Persian Watchers — sets directly over the White House. Aldebaran is the Watcher of the East, a star of illumination, strategy, and the piercing of veils. Its daily descent over the executive mansion from the perspective of the legislature is a geometric fact built into the city’s plan: the eye of the Bull gazes down upon the presidency as the sun goes down.

The August 10 Virgo Alignment
Every year around August 10, an extraordinary event occurs in the sky over Washington. As the sun sets directly over Pennsylvania Avenue, three stars become visible in a line from the Capitol toward the White House: Regulus, Arcturus, and Spica — stars that trace the arc toward Virgo, the Virgin, whom the Masons identified with the Egyptian goddess Isis.

David Ovason, in his study of the city’s secret architecture, documented that the Founders consecrated Washington to Virgo. The first boundary marker was laid on April 15, 1791, as Jupiter rose in Virgo. The White House cornerstone was laid on October 13, 1792, as the moon rose in Virgo. The Capitol cornerstone was laid on September 18, 1793, as the sun and Mercury were in Virgo. The city is, in a very real astronomical sense, a temple to the Virgin/Isis, and August 10 is her annual epiphany in the western sky. Add to this the rare six-planet alignment visible before dawn on August 12, 2026 — Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune tracing the ecliptic — and you have a sky brimming with celestial choreography.

What does it mean?
It means the Compass Stone in the crypt — the worn star where all quadrants meet — is more than a tourist curiosity. It is the still point of the turning world, the foundation beneath the Capitol dome. And the Magna Carta resting nearby is more than a museum piece. It is the sleeping law waiting to be remembered: no one is above the law, not even the kings and presidents who walk above it.

It means that when Sirius rises over the Capitol this August, it is the same star that heralded the Egyptian New Year, the same star the Founders encoded into Pennsylvania Avenue. It is a signal that what has been hidden will be flooded into light — the Monkey’s chaotic individualism ensuring that no secret stays buried in the crypt.

It means that when Aldebaran sets over the White House in the west, the Watcher’s eye closes on an old order, even as Sirius opens the eastern gate to a new one.  And it means that in this Fire Monkey month inside a Fire Horse year, the “tightening oppression placed upon the people” has a chance to melt — not through politics alone, but through the explosive, brilliant, over-the-top energy of the Monkey, who cannot help but reveal the trick, expose the sleight of hand, and laugh at the emperor’s new clothes. The geometry was laid. The stars are returning.  The cornerstone was placed in the northeast, facing the light.

Now, 250 years later, the cosmos has handed the country a mirror: a Fire Horse year containing a Fire Monkey month. The Bing fire of 1776 has returned, but the vessel has changed. The Monkey is back, but it rides a Horse that has already been running all year. The mischief and revelations of August do not arrive in a vacuum; they arrive mid-gallop. Secrets that have been under wraps since January may finally burst into the open now because the Horse’s momentum carries what the Monkey exposes straight into the public square.
