Auspicious Dates August 2019
Ren Shen, 壬 申, Yang Water Monkey, begins August 7 and lasts until September 7, 2019. This is the seventh month of the Chinese calendar and is known as the month of the “Hungry Ghosts!”
I can’t believe I started the Auspicious dates last August! What I wrote last year seems to be even more relevant this year. So, I decided to include it in this newsletter with some additions.
The Chinese see this August as the lowest point of the year. During this time, the gates of the lower realms are opened and the hungry ghosts are free to roam the earth in search of food, entertainment and mischief. This seems to be an accurate portrayal of the current state of both national and world affairs.
Celebrating the Hungry Ghost Festival is all about looking after hungry, discontented, wandering souls. These are ghosts without families to care for them or people who died because of unfortunate events like war, murder or suicide. With the number of disaffected, homeless, and stateless people living in the world today, this theme should resonate with us.
During the Ghost Month, families do everything they can to placate these unhappy spirits with gifts of food, money and other supplies. Though primarily intended to prevent these ghosts from causing trouble in their own lives, the customs of Ghost Month do raise a certain mindfulness about making space in our worlds for those who have fallen out of society. This year the actual festival falls on Aug.15th.
Since this is the lowest point of the year, I decided to give, besides the Auspicious Dates, a “Qi Men Dun Jia” bonus! Qi Men Dun Jia is the Chinese astrology of strategy that brings time and space into actualizing Sun Tzu’s “Art of War.” It is loosely translated as ‘Mystical Doors Escaping Technique.” It is about placing yourself in the right place at the right time to get what you want and is almost like playing 5th dimensional chess! The following instructions are:
Wednesday, August 7th, between 7-9 a.m., is a great time to do a Qi Men mediation on either health or wealth. First, write down your goals, and what you want to achieve, then get in a meditative, focused, quiet state of mind with your back to the west, facing east. Exact directions are needed, so use a compass to make sure your directions are correct. Then, in a clear meditative state, visualize and command the universe to bring a positive outcome for you goals. After the meditation, take action – email, text, phone, write – do something to ground the goal and bring it into the “Light of Day.” Since this is a rat day, it is not good for a horse to do this (they are in opposition.)

August 11, 2019 – Geng Chen Metal Dragon Although today has good energies, it is best for beginning or working on activities of lesser importance. A good day to receive blessings.
August 13, 2019 – Ren Wu Water Horse Excellent day for opening a business starting a new job, taking up a new job position, signing agreements, getting married, doing business deals, starting a project. proposing marriage, doing renovations, burial, traveling, moving into a new home, getting help form noble people. Master Dong Gong says you may experience wealth increase in 60 – 120 days.
